Road Cycling
We have some fantastic quiet lanes for cycling in the South Lakes or Furness Peninsula as well as the very challenging hills and passes of the Lake Distric itself. Active Lakes can help you select a route and provide support by supplying maps and route information, carrying your luggage or simply cycling along to show you the way.
I have cycled many miles in various parts of the world, including a ride across Oregon, up to Crater Lake for a swim, trips to Spain and the Czech Republic, and I have completed the classic 300km Vatternrundan in Sweden. Some of best cycling in the world must be on the quiet roads of the West Coast of Scotland, which is where I am pictured on this page during one of my visits to that area, but the South Lakes has some real gems too, for those who know where to look.
Here's a small taste of what we have to offer: 16 miles around Rusland
